Why Verizon Class Action Settlement?
According to the email:
A class action lawsuit has achieved a tentative settlement. The lawsuit claimed that on post-paid individual consumer wireless accounts from Verizon, Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless (“Verizon”) assessed a monthly Administrative Charge and/or Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge (collectively, “Administrative Charge”) that was unjust and inadequately disclosed. Verizon has refuted, and still does, any wrongdoing on its part and the validity of the claim.According to Verizon, the administrative price will remain the same and it is within their authority to raise it. If accepted, the settlement ends the legal dispute and pays rewards to members of the Settlement Class who submit a claim.
Not surprising. They often charge various fees so many times that I have stopped checking.
Big mistake. Small charges add up.
Are you eligible for the Verizon Class Action Settlement?
It’s mentioned in the email notice:
The “Settlement Class” consists of customers who obtained postpaid wireless or data services from Verizon and who were charged and paid an Administrative Charge between January 1, 2016 and November 8, 2023. The customers are deemed to be residents of the United States (based on the last known billing address of the account holders). Verizon’s records show that you are a member of the Settlement Class, which is why you are receiving this notice.
How much can you receive from the Verizon Class Action Settlement?
If the agreement is reached, Verizon will pay $100 million to establish a settlement fund.
Each eligible Verizon account holder may receive up to $100. Not a retirement fund, but still not bad.
The final amount you receive depends on how long you’ve been a Verizon customer and how many people filed valid claims.
To potentially receive compensation, you must file a claim by April 15, 2024.
