Walfredo de los Reyes, a Cuban father, and Matilde Pages, a Puerto Rican mother, welcomed Kamar de los Reyes into the world on November 8, 1967, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He claimed to come from a “family of musicians,” saying that his grandfather was a well-known trumpet player, and his father and brothers were both accomplished percussionists.

After high school, Kamar de los Reyes relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, having grown up in Las Vegas. He made his New York stage debut as Pedro Quinn in the Off-Broadway production “Blade to the Heat,” for which he won critical acclaim in 1994.
