“With his picture “Oppenheimer,” director Christopher Nolan had a big influence on the 96th Academy Awards nominations. ‘Poor Things,’ Yorgos Lanthimos, and Martin Scorsese are next in line, and ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ comes in first.
Thirteen nominations were collected for Christopher Nolan’s three-hour epic about the father of the atomic bomb, including Best Picture, Best Director, and acting nominations for Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., and Cillian Murphy.
Because of its high quality, the movie was nominated for multiple awards.
With its depiction of Osage Nation members being killed in Oklahoma in the 1920s, Scorsese’s epic garnered eleven nominations. Lily Gladstone is the first Native American actress to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress category.
